Manga vs. Marvel – Romance vs. Action Packed

Article - No Comments » - Posted on December, 28 at 2:05 am

In the world of comic books, there exist two powerful and compelling types of comic that have garnered rave reviews from different audience world wide.

Marvel comics are produced by Marvel Publishing Inc. In the span of how many decades Marvel had popularized a number of characters namely: The Hulk, X-Men, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Captain America, and Thor to name a few. Some of these characters have been brought to life through the creation of films adapting the storyline of the Marvel comics which include Spider-Man (3 sequels), The Hulk (2 sequels), Daredevil, and X-Men.

Most of Marvel comics’ storyline revolves around defeating the villain and rescue the dimsel in distress. The characters might have different personalities and love interest but at the end of the day it’s all about action packed story line and small scenes for romance.

For manga, it is quite different. The genres can be either on romance, drama, fantasy, horror, mystery and a lot of more. It is so diversified that there is always a comic book fit for someone else. But as of today, most of manga released in the market often deal with romance that get a lot of girls go crazy about and some are into adventure-action that has most boys interested in.

The most obvious genre that a specific manga has is romance. For instance, Card Captor Sakura. This is more of fantasy and adventure like but also there is a touch of romance wherein Sakura had a crush on a boy older than her and a boy who is the same age as she is has a crush on her.

There is something with how the manga of today depicts real life stories or scenarios and giving a dash of love interest or romance that can really add up to the interest of the reader.

Marvel is full of action-packed stories and characters that transform into superheroes killing the villain using their superheroes. This is the kind of thing that most adult audience does like and interested in. However, when it comes to manga it is more of a diversified audience who has different interest and there is always this specific genre that falls in to the category that a specific audience does like.

To get a full blast and well-created comic books with full of twists and turns, manga is the perfect one! There is no single minute that you will get bored of it. You will start falling in love with the characters and even feel their emotions as you read through every page.

Feel the love, hatred, anger, and misery of every character as he or she goes through the journey of life and hold a grip of life’s wonderful mysteries and lessons to be learned a long the way. See how ordinary people unveil themselves in front of your very eyes as they progress of becoming a hero or heroine or succeed in love or money and many others. It’s more based on humans’ emotions and experiences but the characters and settings are fictional.

Manga vs. Marvel – Let the Show Down Begin

Article - No Comments » - Posted on December, 3 at 9:00 am

For sure there are a lot of manga and marvel fanatics out there who would always say their chosen comics are better than the other. Others might say, “Oh Marvel comics are great because of super powers the heroes have”. While fanatics for manga will eventually “Oh Naruto or Shaman King are way better in contrast with Wolverine and Spider-Man”.

Both statements are indeed right. However, it all depends on the preference of a fanatic whether he likes manga or Marvel as well as his own standards or definition of a good comic book.

But let’s take a look on what are the differences between these two and decide which is better over the other.

                      1. Place of Origin

Manga is basically based in Japan while Marvel is an American based comic book.

                      2. Language

Manga is written in Japanese language of which not all readers around the world can read. The language can be a barrier to manga since not everybody knows how to read Japanese not unless they are Japanese or have learned the language. While Marvel is written in English language which most Europeans, Asians and those in U.S. can speak and read of.

                      3. Theme

Manga is diversified when it comes to the theme or storyline it can be anything. An ordinary person can be a hero of the day without even trying to gain super power to save someone. In Marvel, it’s mostly superheroes with amazing superpowers trying to save the day.

                      4. Characters

Few of the most famous manga characters are Naruto, Hack and Shaman King while Marvel has Spider-Man, The Hulk, and Wolverine (from X-Men).

                      5. Costumes

The costumes of manga characters are mostly school uniforms and ordinary attire a real human being wears in his daily life. In Marvel, the superheroes wear somewhat unique costumes that are quite distinctive to their personalities and made out of spandex. One more thing, the characters do often wear their underpants outside and showing them off plus a cape to match the costume.

                      6. Link to Human Behavior

Manga makes an ordinary person doing ordinary work became the hero or heroine without the need of getting powers from somewhere, it’s quite realistic and the personality of each character has a greater linkage to the human behavior.

In Marvel, yes there is this ordinary person who obtained super power along the way, had day job or a life and eventually transformed into this superhero every time someone needs help. It is quite impossible to achieve by a real human being to become a hero.

                      7. Market

For manga, most of its readers are the young ones, teenagers, or those young adults who are in their early 20s. As to Marvel, they geared towards an adult audience.

With the given information for both manga and Marvel, I am pretty sure you now fully understand the big difference from these two. One common denominator is that both are comics and created by people to entertain the inquisitive minds of both the young and the adult.
